Wednesday, June 11: Buckley Ridge Estates Update
It has been some time since I reported on the development.
Not much has happened this past Winter and Spring. However, things are now beginning to happen.
If you live on Meadowbrook, you have already experienced the land clearing and earthwork.
Mike Ryan has his contractor, Petersburg Plumbing & Heating,
starting that work to get prepared for sewer and roadwork once the City Public Works issues a construction permit.
Public Works told me last Friday that the permit is very close to being issued.
Once it is issued, you will see tree clearing and excavation necessary for installation of sewers, utilities and streets.
Once that is done (several months), you should see the first houses being constructed.
Public Works has told me that the layout of streets and lots are essentially the same except that one lot (or maybe two)
were eliminated due to wetland issues.
It has been my understanding that DNR has had issues with the drainage of the property, especially at the North end. I will check with DNR regarding their status and see if they are holding up the permit process. Public Works indicates that the dam will remain but the breech (center opening) will be graded for permanent flows.
The positive note for HP owners regarding the clearing off of Meadowbrook is that construction traffic may be limited through Harrison Park. Mr. Ryan had promised that no construction traffic would go through HP, but we all remember how Throop Tree Service blocked Buckley Drive last July. The negative is that the Meadowbrook owners are already being affected by construction congestion, stormwater runoff, lack of erosion controls, etc. Before this is all over with, I think all of us with experience some frustration (if not anger) with the construction activity.
Please share your information and concerns with everyone. Let me know if any of the information above is inaccurate. Some of you may have purchased a lot and may have information to share. It is always my intention to share with you the facts and not to guess at what may or may not be going on. At this point, things can change daily. Also, let me know if your neighbors' emails have changed. Many of you were insight customers and I do not know if the conversion to Comcast will affect the old addresses. I will let you know what DNR tells me.
